Privacy Policy

Welcome to GetHandsOn.ai ("we", "our" or "us"). This notice explains what personal information we collect when you visit gethandson.ai or use our labs, practice exams and study guides, why we collect it, who we share it with and what rights you have. GetHandsOn.ai is operated by Girish, its founder, in Amsterdam.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

• Account details: your name and email address, and a password if you register with email. If you sign in with Google, GitHub, Microsoft or LinkedIn, we receive your name and email address from that provider, and your profile picture where the provider shares it.
• Learning data: your lab sessions, completions and ratings, your practice exam answers and scores, and the certificates you earn.
• Messages: what you write to us in the support chat, in lab reports, and in enquiry or download forms, including any email address you enter there.
• Purchase details: the product you bought, the amount, the currency and the payment reference. Card and bank details are handled by Dodo Payments and never reach us.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: the pages you visit, how far you scroll and how long you read, the page that referred you, campaign tags in the link you followed (such as utm_source), ad click identifiers (such as gclid), your device type and your approximate country.
• Where you came from: your browser keeps a note of the first and the most recent source of your visits for 90 days. We store it with your account when you sign up and with your order when you buy, so we can tell which channels bring visitors and customers.
• Session recordings and heatmaps: Microsoft Clarity records how visitors move through our pages, including clicks and scrolling, and PostHog collects click heatmaps. We use them to find what is confusing or broken. We do not record the lab runner or our admin screens, we do not record pages whose address contains private details such as a sign-in link, and lab credentials and access keys are masked.
• Error reports: when something breaks, Sentry receives technical details of the error, such as the browser, the page and the code that failed.
• Lab environments: when you launch a lab, we create a temporary Microsoft Azure account and resources for you, and we record the session so we can keep it running and shut it down afterwards.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To provide the service: to give you access to labs, practice exams and study guides, save your progress and issue certificates.
• To take payments and deliver what you bought, through Dodo Payments.
• To send you service emails, such as account confirmation, purchase receipts, notices about your labs and account, and replies to your questions.
• To answer you in the support chat.
• To understand and improve the site: which pages and labs people use, where they get stuck, and which channels bring visitors and customers.
• To keep the service safe: to stop automated sign-ups and abuse, and to find and fix errors.

We process your information to perform our contract with you, for our legitimate interest in running and improving the service, to meet legal obligations such as keeping tax records, and with your consent where the law requires it.

3. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run parts of GetHandsOn.ai for us:

• Dodo Payments: our Merchant of Record. It processes payments, handles tax and issues refunds.
• Supabase: hosts our database, sign-in and server functions, in the European Union (Frankfurt).
• Cloudflare: hosts the website, and its Turnstile check protects our sign-in forms from bots.
• Microsoft Azure: runs the lab environments you launch.
• Google Analytics: website analytics.
• Microsoft Clarity: session recordings and heatmaps.
• PostHog: product analytics and heatmaps, in PostHog's European Union region. When you are signed in, PostHog receives your account ID, not your name or email address.
• Crisp: our support chat. When you are signed in, Crisp receives your email address and name so we can reply to you.
• Sentry: error reporting.
• Resend: sends our emails.
• OpenAI and Anthropic: AI services behind the internal tools we use to draft lab and blog content. We do not send them your personal information.
• Sign-in providers: Google, GitHub, Microsoft and LinkedIn, if you choose to sign in with one of them.

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where your information is transferred there, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer for such transfers, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and the providers above use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, show prices in your currency, run the support chat, measure how the site is used and remember where your visit came from. Our Cookie Policy lists each one, what it is for and how long it lasts.

5. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your account and learning data while your account is open. We keep purchase records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. We keep analytics data, such as the pages you visited and where your visits came from, for up to 14 months, and session recordings for a shorter time. The note of where your visits came from stays in your browser for 90 days. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

6. How We Keep Your Information Safe

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information we process, including encrypted connections and access controls on our database. No transmission over the internet or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so we cannot promise that unauthorised people will never be able to access your information.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access your personal information, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw any consent you have given. To use any of these rights, email support@gethandson.ai. You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies does not stop you using the site.

8. Minimum Age

GetHandsOn.ai is intended for people aged 16 and over. To buy, you must be 18 or over, or have permission from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has given us their information, email support@gethandson.ai and we will delete it.

9. Updates to This Notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and the new version applies as soon as it is published here.
